Onboarding automation software
Automation removes repetitive coordination from onboarding: task assignment, reminders, document collection and first drafts. It should not remove the manager's judgement or the relationships a new hire needs.
By buyer problem
Repetitive task assignment
Workflows triggered by a new hire, with owners for IT, HR and the manager.
Wonboard generates the hire's plan and manager prep automatically when a hire is added.
Writing a plan for every role
Drafting from role and company context instead of a static template.
Core use: drafts role-specific plans for review.
Knowing when to step in
Signals instead of dashboards.
Wonboard flags failed checks, open questions and missed meetings.
How to evaluate
- What triggers the automation
- Who reviews automated output
- Whether exceptions are visible
- Ongoing maintenance effort
A realistic automation scope
For a team hiring a few people a month, the useful automation is narrow: create the plan when a hire is added, remind owners of preboarding tasks, schedule the recurring check-ins and surface anything overdue. Everything else, including deciding what a role should learn first and whether the hire is ready for more responsibility, stays with the manager. Tools that try to automate judgement tend to produce generic plans that managers quietly stop using.
What not to automate
Approvals, access grants, welcome conversations and feedback. Automate the reminder, not the decision.
